Our Mission
The mission of the Kiphart Center is to support global health and social development research, education, and partnerships to improve health and well-being in communities around the world.
Today’s global health issues are increasingly complex. Global processes including urbanization, climate change, and technology, among others are reshaping the nature of social problems as well as our responses to them. This is why the Kiphart Center was established.
The Kiphart Center builds on and expands on the work of the Center for Global Health to move beyond biomedical approaches to global health to focus on the social determinants of health that impact community health and well-being around the world.
Drawing on the expertise and resources of the University of Chicago, the Kiphart Center provides a unifying framework to build knowledge, train students, and incubate innovative interventions in collaboration with local stakeholders in our partner communities.
